Today we had to design and make a greenhouse. We already knew about materials being transparent, translucent and opaque from when we were learning about light. We decided to use clear, plastic cups as they were transparent. We needed the sunlight to be able shine through as plants use the sun to grow. They need light for photosynthesis. When we had planted the sweet pea seeds in the compost we placed one our greenhouses on the windowsill and the other in the cupboard away from the sunlight. We are waiting patiently to see what happens!
